Teddy Riley and Keith Sweat
With Guy, members of Blackstreet, Doug E. Fresh, Kool Moe Dee, MC Lyte, DJ D-Nice, Al B. Sure! and more
Join us as we celebrate 30 years of the ground-breaking New Jack Swing sound. This special evening will not only serve as a homecoming for Harlem natives Teddy Riley and Keith Sweat but also as a celebration of the ground-breaking sub-genre created in the iconic Harlem streets. Featuring New Jack pioneers Guy, Blackstreet, Doug E. Fresh, Kool Moe Dee the Kings & Queens of New Jack Swing will be more an experience than an experience and underscores Harlem’s legacy as a cultural hub for innovation and creativity. In its role as the crown jewel of Harlem, the Apollo is a natural fit to lead celebrations such as these.
The New Jack Swing sound recently received a resurgence after superstar Bruno Mars incorporated it into his latest opus 24K Magic and also credited Riley as a major influence in the making of that album. Teddy Riley continues to produce and also tours with both of his groups – Guy and Blackstreet, respectively.
